Robots from Hyria visited our Hyvinkää plant - watch the video and find out what they can do
Hyria's humanoid robot Pepper and the Unitree A1 robot dog visited and entertained staff at our Hyvinkää plant.
Two robots from the Hyria training institure, visited our Hyvinkää plant on Wednesday 24.11. One of them was Pepper, a social humanoid robot. Currently Pepper serves for example students, staff and customers from Hyria, the HAMK university of applied sciences and the city of Riihimäki. The other visiting creature was the Unitree A1 robo-dog. In the future its help could be used for example, in moiving and carrying things.
Robotics is already part of our everyday lives and it is growing at an accelerating pace. You might already have your own "James" spinning around your household dust balls or cutting the lawn. The desire and need for companies to utilize robotics is also growing. Thus it is important that robotics skills are developed in cooperation with educational institutions and companies.
- The purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with robotics and the opportunities it brings into working life, says Irina Turunen from Lapp Automaatio's temperature sensor production. No one can really predict how fast robotics will become more common and be part of your everyday life at work and home, in shops and nursing homes, etc. For example, the development of mobile phones from mere phones to “mini computers” has been really fast. Sky is the limit in the development of robotics, Irinan ponders.
- Pepper can already work as a receptionist, or the robo-dog can take things from one place to another, says Jari Mattila from Hyria. Pepper has three different dances programmed, so it can act as an office gymnastic leader. The robo-dog can't pick up anything yet, but it can help in carrying things. LAPP is actually the first company Pepper and the robo-dog visited, Jari concludes.
